Joint Working Journal - Edition 18

Joint Working Journal #18

Welcome to the West Glamorgan ‘Joint Working Journal’!

Stay tuned for regular updates on our regional programmes of work and other interesting tidbits relating to the partnership space.

Welcome to the latest entry of our Joint Working Journal. This instalment focuses on the regional programmes of work reporting to Steering and Advisory Board 2 (SAB2), which met on 11th March.

SAB2 focuses on the Emotional Well-being and Mental Health Programme and the Well-being and Learning Disability Programme.

Emotional Well-being and Mental Health Programme

Our Emotional Well-being and Mental Health Programme has made progress over the last few months. We have taken the first steps in creating a new virtual network of organisations operating in the Emotional Well-being and Mental Health domain across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. This series of contacts will feed into a wider network of voices for the region, offering invaluable insights and support as we move forward with our engagement activities.

New Pathways

SAB2 members had the opportunity to watch an impactful digital story produced by our Communications and Engagement Team. The Team visited the premises of New Pathways, a charity providing vital support to individuals who have experienced sexual abuse. New Pathways have received investment via the West Glamorgan Regional Partnership to offer therapeutic services to adults in need of support.

Content Warning: The following video discusses topics related to sexual violence.

You can find other digital stories and helpful explainer animations on our Vimeo channel – www.vimeo.com/westglamorgan.

Well-being and Learning Disability Programme

Last year we brought you news of the Transport project, which was identified as the first priority area for the Learning Disability Strategy. This piece of work has now come to an end and the following products have been created:

In February’s meeting of the Regional Partnership Board, Gareth Bartley (Vice Chair of the Well-being and Learning Disability Programme Board) presented the outcomes of the Transport project and made a request to write to Ken Skates MS, Cabinet Secretary for Transport inviting him to discuss the findings of the project and how transport companies can better support people with a learning disability.

The next priority area will be ‘Getting the Right Care and Support’, and we will bring you more on the progress of this in a future edition of our journal.

That’s everything from us for now, we’ll be back with another instalment following the next SAB 😊
